.::PREPARE FOR BOTH EAMCET AND NEET - KONDURU MURALI::.

Minister for Medical Education Kondru Murali has asked the medical aspirants to prepare for both the EAMCET and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) as the State government was awaiting the response from the Supreme Court on the exemption sought for State students. Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Murali said that EAMCET will be conducted if the Supreme Court gives a positive decision or else students have to sit for the NEET conducted at the all-India level from the next year. The NEET will be held on May 5, 2013. The Minister’s statement assumes significance in the light of commencement of hearing on cases filed in the Supreme Court by students as well as college managements seeking exemption from NEET. He admitted there was some confusion among students and parents on whether they would appear for EAMCET or NEET. “Full details of the case are yet to be received, but the State has to abide by the decision of the apex court,” he said. The State government had moved the High Court where it got a favourable response, but the MCI moved Supreme Court against it. The CBSE, which is conducting the NEET, has agreed to give questions in Telugu for the convenience of students from the State. The test will be held in Hyderabad, Nellore, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam and Warangal only. As per the recently released NEET schedule students have to apply online between December 1 and 31. The test will, however, be held off-line mode.
